What we know:
The Catawba County Sheriff's Office released details on a shooting that took place at a large house party early Sunday morning in North Carolina.
One person was killed and at least 11 others were hurt, with one victim in critical condition.
Investigators told one local news agency that there were as many as 100 people attending a house party.
The crime scene spanned several properties, covering about two acres, and included outdoor and indoor areas.

What we don't know:
Authorities haven’t released the victims’ identities, but said those at the party included teens and people in their 20s and older.
It’s also not known what caused the shooting, or how many shots were fired.

By the numbers:
Police said at least 80 shots were fired.
Local perspective:
Eyewitnesses told local reporters that many people attending the party were from nearby high schools and people began scattering, ducking for cover and running toward safety when shots erupted.
Meanwhile:
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Hickory Police Department are investigating the shooting. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is also assisting in the case.
No arrests have been made.
