A "major medical emergency" prompted BART to halt train service between South Hayward and Bay Fair stations in San Leandro on Thursday morning, according to transit officials.

VTA union workers voting on new contract offer

Members of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 265 are voting Tuesday on a new contract offer from the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). If approved, the four-year contract would provide an over-all pay hike of 14.5%, among other benefits. Voting concludes late Tuesday night and the results will be tallied by early Wednesday officials said.
